EDWARD I

[EDWARD I]. An early account roll dated during the English king's reign, 1293-1294, written on three pieces of vellum sewn together, 68 by 9 inches. An interesting series of accounts of Stephen, an official of Mulkeberton, [Mulbarton, Norfolk] beginning with entries concerning rents, sales of barley, peas, oats, cows and other animals, and listing expenses such as the purchase of animals, expenses of the steward, the purchase of ploughs and carts and other equipment. The roll also contains the account of Henricus de Snapegate. The text consists of 225 lines on the recto and 195 lines on the verso. Normal ageing; fine condition.
