A photograph of the American delegation that negotiated the treaty with Japan formally ending hostilities, San Francisco, September 8, 1951, Signed by Secretary of State Dean Acheson, who has written "We signed this great treaty this morning, but we must keep this treaty from this day on," John Foster Dulles [later Secretary of State] who has written "You, General Macarthur, will be present in spirit, for the signing delegations and the witnessing multitudes all know that without your great leadership in war and peace the results achieved here would not be attainable", as well as Congressmen James A. Richards and John Sparkman, Senators Alexander Wiley, Alexander Smith and B.B. Hickelooper. The black and white photograph measures 10 inches wide by 8 inches high. Matted in ivory and blue, and framed ina antiqued gilt. Framed dimensions are 17 inches wide by 15 inches high.
